On the performance evaluation of hybrid and mono-class sensor arrays in selective detection of VOCs: A comparative study

چکیده
Detection of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) using non-selective sensor requires an array of multiplexed sensors followed by pattern recognition approach. Based on this concept, we compare three different approaches for selective detection of ethanol, ammonia, toluene, acetone and chloroform at different concentrations using non-selective sensors which are: (a) an array of sensors operated at a fixed temperature (hybrid class sensors), (b) operating one sensor at different temperatures (mono-class sensors), and (c) operating all sensors in an array at different temperatures ( i d r ©

Sensor Arrays Based on Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons: Chemiresistors versus Quartz-Crystal Microbalance.
Arrays of broadly cross-reactive sensors are key elements of smart, self-training sensing systems. Chemically sensitive resistors and quartz-crystal microbalance (QCM) sensors are attractive for sensing applications that involve detection and classification of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the gas phase. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) derivatives as sensing materials can provide g...
متن کاملFDMG: Fault detection method by using genetic algorithm in clustered wireless sensor networks
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of a large number of sensor nodes which are capable of sensing different environmental phenomena and sending the collected data to the base station or Sink. Since sensor nodes are made of cheap components and are deployed in remote and uncontrolled environments, they are prone to failure; thus, maintaining a network with its proper functions even when und...
متن کاملPoly(Niacin) Based Carbon Nanotube Sensor for the Sensitive and Selective Voltammetric Detection of Vanillin with Caffeine
In the current work, a novel sensor was developed for the analysis of Vanillin (VN) by electrochemical polymerization of Niacin over the surface of carbon nanotube paste electrode. The features of electrode surface was studied using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE‒SEM) images. Sweep rate variation study was conducted in the optimum pH (pH 7.0) for the evaluation of number of ele...
متن کاملAn Electrochemical Sensor Based on Novel Ion Imprinted Polymeric Nanoparticles for Selective Detection of Lead Ions
In this study, the novel surface ion-imprinted polymer (IIP) particles were prepared and applied as a electrode modifier in stripping voltammetric detection of lead(II) ion. A carbon paste electrode (CPE) modified with IIP nanoparticles and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was used for accumulation of toxic lead ions. Various factors that govern on electrochemical signals including carbon...
متن کاملFabrication of a Selective and Sensitive Electrochemical Sensor Modified with Magnetic Molecularly Imprinted Polymer for Amoxicillin
A modified electrochemical sensor for the determination of amoxicillin (AMX) was reported in this paper. The magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer (MMIP) were suspended in AMX solution and then collected on the surface of a magnetic carbon paste electrode (CPE) via a permanent magnet, situated within the carbon paste electrode and then the voltammetry signals were recorded. It was confirmed th...
